Isn't my posting name fantastic? John chose it at random, I suppose, but it's actually a nickname my friend Daisy gave me a while back. Whenever it's raining or I'm in the pool he yells, "Hey, look, it's *water* Mellen!" Ah, the joys of sharing a last name with a type of fruit.
I could use this space to talk about me, but that'd bore everyone, and that's what my diary is for. Anyway, I started working at the Becker Law Office about a month ago, mostly doing courthouse runs and the like, and since then I've learned a lot about downtown Louisville. Here are a few observations I've made.
1) "Nice" restaurants downtown suck. The service is horribly slow, and the food is way overpriced besides.
2) You can park anywhere, for any period of time, so long as you put on your emergency flashers and make like you're on some super important errand. Works like a charm.
3) It's a bad idea to humor someone who is talking to themselves by trying to engage them in a *real* conversation. Just don't do it.
Guess that's it. Oh, and John is right, Badly Drawn Boy is incredible. Buy his albums! And see About A Boy! He does the soundtrack, and it's marvelous, just marvelous. Course, the movie's not in theaters anymore, but that's what Blockbuster is for, right?
