At least John didn't ask the question about the tree falling in the forest with no one around...
1. For survival the first thing that comes to my mind is a big Leatherman with about 50 bajillion different tools like a saw and some pliers and scissors and stuff. Of course Prozac seems like a viable option as well, because I can see how being stranded on an island would mess with one's psyche, and sanity is fairly key to survival.
2. For sentimental value I'd bring along "Master Of All Masters," the best children's book ever. My grandparents got it for my dad when he was a kid, and my siblings and I read it when we were kids, too, so it has a special place in my heart. Aww. :)
3. Only one cd? Well, in that case, my vote is for "Dress To Kill" by Eddie Izzard. I've listened to it I don't know how many times and I still react with genuine laughter everytime I hear it, plus it'd probably eliminate the need for Prozac. I love fringe benefits!
4. Last but not least I would bring some pens and paper, because writing, be it random thoughts or poetry or what have you, is a huge part of my life.
So, that's that.

I like the fourth idea ... that's actually not bad of an idea. We could all write like Thoreau or Wendell Berry or something. You could come up with some really cool essays ... or maybe just psychotic diary entries, but whatever.
Thanks for posting.
Personally I prefer Frost, Poe, or Suess. But whatever. Also, I cant believe that someone else likes that Eddie Izzard CD. I watched his special on HBO, and laughed until I fell over. Everyone I ask says they never saw it. So yeah.. just surprised someone saw it AND liked it. cool

everyone loves eddie izzard ... we listened to that cd a number of occasions in albright's free period last year
oh, and yes it's 1:35 in the morning
bdawg->Stevenson really likes him, if I remember correctly
I'm thinking that after a few years on the island our journal entries would be less like Thoreau and more like Alexander Supertramp's. (John knows what I'm talking about.)
PS - eddie izzard's the man. er, well, the pseudo-man... um, cross-dresser-type guy... yeah. nevermind.

Just thought of something. If we're gonna be stranded on an island, that means that there will be a limited supply of food. And having to do a lot of work to survive (i.e. killing SporkOps, stretching their flesh, building shelter, hunting, etc. etc.) I would most definately lose a significant amount of weight.
I mean i might go from weighing a modest 290 to a bantom weight of 240 or ..gasp... 235 The question is... would i gain size from muscle gained from exercise and thus remain a Bigg Dawg? Is Bigg Dawg a nickname given to me because of my size? Is it a characteristic that I have? Or is it a combination of the two?
So does this mean i can never go on a diet for fear of losing my title of Bigg Dawg? i sense many a sleepless nights approaching with this thought upon my conscience.

Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord
